New York Paid Family Leave – Regulatory Update

On July 19, 2017, the New York Worker’s Compensation Board published the final regulations adopted for the administration of the new New York Paid Family Leave (PFL) benefit. Our New York PFL regulatory update eCard and the New York PFL employer fact sheet are intended to provide the most updated information on the New York PFL regulations, while confirming that our New York PFL solution offering will be ready for our clients and their employees by the end of the year (2017) – for the January 1, 2018 effective date.

What is Cigna doing to get ready?

If your clients’ New York statutory disability benefits are insured by Cigna Life Insurance Company of New York, we’ll automatically add the mandatory PFL rider to their policy. Cigna held an informative New York PFL webinar on August 17, 2017 – outlining the final regulations, what’s still missing from the state, business impacts and best practices employers can use to help them comply by January 1, 2018. If you (or one of your clients) were unable to attend, click here for the webinar replay (use case-sensitive password Cigna1) – you can also download a copy of the presentation. We’ll also be sending you and our clients more information and a FAQs document regarding New York PFL – what we’re doing to get ready and what employers will need to do in order to comply. Stay tuned for more information and please contact your Cigna representative or account manager with any questions.
